Ever wondered as to why you were born or what exactly is the purpose of your life..?

If yes, then this title “Ikigai- that roughly translates to the joy of being forever busy” is indeed for you.

The opening dialogues of the book forced me to jot down few answers like “what I love, what am I good at, what can I be paid for and what the world needs..?”

The book beautifully depicts the logic behind our daily day to day activity, and ask us to introspect the reason we get up in the morning, and trust me I did just the same, I asked myself these questions and tried to find my IKIGAI.

The book has some examples of Psychotherapy, Logotherapy and Morita therapy. For ones who are introvert and are dying to find more about themselves, this book is a gateway to the path of self knowledge and self inspection.

Though it is a research based title yet the words painted a picture and depicted the lives of those living in Okinawa, Japan where 100 is the minimum year of you being young.

The mind, heart, spirit, body and soul when all combined and worked upon on being fit and young, the ultimate exalt of being happy, calm and serene is achieved.

The seven conditions of achieving a flow, the state where what we are doing matters the most and rest everything is secondary allured me the most,

The fact that any task is difficult only till the time we aren’t taking it up, is indeed a reality.
The examples of Einstein, Steve Jobs, Miyazaki, are stated to make the readers understand the importance of loving what you do, and doing what you love, this indeed is the mantra of being busy in every second. If I’d written this title I would have included the name of APJ Abdul Kalam as well, the perfect example of following your heart, your ikigai or something that makes you jump of your bed everyday till you are alive.

The book shares simple examples like living in the present and now, enjoying mundane tasks and not worrying about things we cannot control.

This book is an ideology, which if followed can change your way of looking at world, finding peace in the heart, and happiness within.
